Isn’t it wonderful to engage little learners with sensory activities? Have you ever created some for your kindergartners? This month, I’d like to share my favorite: “Sensory Baggies for Kindergarten.”

This project is incredibly easy to create, budget-friendly, and your students will absolutely love these pumpkin or monster Sensory Baggies for Kindergarten!
Supplies Needed:
Colored Hair Gel
Directions:
Begin by drawing a monster or pumpkin face on the baggie with a Sharpie marker.
Next, open the baggie and add the hair gel, then seal it tightly.
Finally, add the googly eyes. Using different sizes and quantities will make it even more fun!
Additional Tips:
Now that you have your sensory baggies prepared, here are some additional tips and variations to enhance the activity and keep your little learners engaged.
Theme Variations:
Change the theme according to the season or holidays. For example, create winter-themed baggies with snowflakes or spring baggies filled with flowers.
Sensory Elements:
Consider adding other sensory elements, such as:
Small beads or sequins for extra texture.
Foam shapes in various colors that relate to your theme.
Interactive Learning:
Use the baggies as a teaching tool.
Count the googly eyes or other items inside.
Describe the textures they feel through the baggie.
Classroom Integration:
Art and Craft:
Incorporate this project into your art curriculum. Allow your students to create their own designs and personalize their baggies.
Storytime Connection:
Pair the activity with a storytime session featuring monsters or pumpkins. This will help your little learners make connections between the crafts and the stories. (MoNsTeRs in the Classroom! or Pumpkins in the Classroom)
Safety Considerations:
Supervision: Ensure that your little learners are supervised when using materials like Sharpies and googly eyes to prevent choking hazards.
Material Check: Always check for allergies or sensitivities related to the materials, particularly the hair gel or any additional sensory items.
Have Fun:
By implementing these ideas, you can create a fun, educational experience that your students will cherish and remember. Enjoy crafting these sensory baggies together!
