May is the month when we kindergarten teachers wrap up our assessments, prepare our little learners for the transition to 1st grade, and celebrate both Mother’s Day and kindergarten graduation/promotion. This makes for a bustling end-of-year calendar. Here are some of my favorite activities for a fabulous Kindergarten Year End Wrap Up!

Mothers Day Celebration

To honor Mother’s Day, you can have a special “Moms and Muffins” morning where students invite their grown-ups to join them for breakfast in the classroom. Your little learners can present handmade cards and gifts to their special VIP. This is a heartwarming event that strengthens the bond between students and their families.

Another cherished celebration I enjoy for Mother’s Day is the Mother’s Day Tea Party. This event holds a special place in my heart, and I love sharing this experience with my kindergarteners. Check out post-Mother’s Day Ideas For Little Learners for more exciting info and ideas.

💐Do you Celebrate Mothers Day in the classroom? 😍 Hosting a Tea Party for all of the Moms and VIPs in your Little Learners lives is so much fun! The kids are so excited and love to take part in setting it all up! 💜 I’ve updated the Tea Party to reflect VIPs and have made it editable, to fit the needs of your students and classmates on! 💬 Feel free to ask questions about this Mothers Fay/VIP Tea Party! #kindergartenchaos #mothersday2023 #mothersdaycrafts #kindergartenactivities #teaparty

Memory Books

I love organizing a “Memory Lane” activity where each student creates a memory book featuring their favorite moments and achievements from the year. This not only helps them reflect on their growth but also provides a keepsake they can cherish forever. This activity bundle include a memory book activity that is simple, easy and purposeful for your kindergarteners.

🌞When is your last day of school? For some it’s in May, others June. But if you are looking for a print and go last week or last few days of school resource…look no further! ➡️Includes Snapshot Year Book with lots of page options; Find Someone Who game, Design a FlipFlop, Last Day of School Crown, Cut/Glue Thank You Note for support staff, end of year kindness die and student gift tags!😎Jam packed full of fun! 🥚And I’ve heard that Taylor Swift leaves little Easter Eggs in her songs/videos and while I am no TSwift, see if you can spot something in this reel!😉 #kindergartenchaos #kidscrafts #kindergartenactivities #endofschoolyear #summer #kindergartengraduation

Talent Show

Another beloved tradition is the “Kindergarten Talent Show.” This event gives students the opportunity to showcase their unique skills, whether it’s singing, dancing, telling jokes, or even showing off a special craft. It’s incredible to see their confidence and creativity shine on stage, and it’s always a highlight for grown-ups and teachers alike.

Reading Picnic

We also set aside time for a “Reading Picnic.” On a sunny day, the class gathers outside with blankets and their favorite books. We pair up with reading buddies and enjoy stories surrounded by nature. It’s a delightful way to foster a love for reading in a relaxed and joyful setting.

Graduation/Promotion

Finally, our kindergarten graduation ceremony is a cherished celebration. Students wear little caps and gowns and receive diplomas, marking their transition to first grade. We sing songs, recite poems, and celebrate the accomplishments of each child. It’s a moment of pride and joy for everyone involved, and a perfect way to end the year on a triumphant note. (Kindergarten End Of Year Celebration Ideas has more ideas and resources.)

Here’s to hoping these ideas, resources, and activities wrap up the kindergarten school year with a bang, bringing joy and meaning to you and your little learners. A massive cheer and a standing ovation for all the amazing teachers and their students!
