March is the perfect month to celebrate rainbows—those vibrant arcs of joy not only brighten up the room but also double as a fantastic theme for all sorts of academic activities. If you’re itching to jazz up your sensory table, colorful rainbow rice is the dazzling way to do it!

Food Coloring? No Way!!!!

In recent years, I’ve jazzed up my sensory bin with a wild mix of goodies, including  colored macaronipinto beansrock saltEaster grass , and water. However, I was initially hesitant about using rainbow rice. Most colored rice relies on food coloring for dyeing. Food coloring and I have a rocky relationship, but then I struck gold! Liquid watercolor to the rescue! This allows you to dye your pasta or rice without the troublesome additives like alcohol or other chemicals. Easy peasy! Ingredients and Directions

Whipping up this rainbow rice is a breeze, and your little learners will be bouncing with excitement to dive into this colorful sensory feast all month long.

Creating this rainbow delight was a cinch, and it dries faster than you can say “color explosion!” One little surprise? If you let it dry too long, it might harden, but no worries! A quick shake revives it back to its colorful glory.

I dumped each vibrant bag into my sensory table, crafting a dazzling rainbow masterpiece! Sure, it turned into a colorful mush when my kinders dove in the next day, but it still looks absolutely fabulous, and my little learners are head over heels for it!

Trust me, this rainbow rice is a snap to whip up, dries in a flash, and will bring a splash of color and joy to your sensory bin!
