As teachers, we’re like treasure hunters on a quest for free or nearly-free gems to spark engagement in our little learners! Get ready for another delightful, engaging, and oh-so-meaningful activity: your kiddos are going to flip for this “Free” Kindergarten Math Activity!
Managing the cash flow for kindergarten activities is like trying to juggle jellybeans! I’m on a mission to unearth those delightful, wallet-friendly activities that captivate little learners while reinforcing their academic skills.
Here’s a purposeful activity that I’m sure your students will love, and it’s budget-friendly too!
Paper Plate Math
Supplies
Paper Plates (Use what you have in your classroom supplies, visit your local Dollar Store, or ask a parent volunteer to contribute some for your activities)
Math Skill: Number Identification and Representation
Start by grabbing those paper plates. Draw one horizontal and one vertical line to divide the plate into four sections, resembling pie slices. In each section, create number representations along with the actual number. Carefully cut along the lines to produce four pie-shaped pieces, each displaying a number or its representation. Your little learners can then reassemble the plate, matching each number with its corresponding representation. This activity can take place at their desks, on the floor, in small groups, at a math station, or during independent practice.
Don’t let those awesome and budget-friendly math activities go rogue—stash and sort them with my all-time favorite storage hack! Woohoo! (Effortlessly Organizing Your Kindergarten Activities)
Get ready for a whirlwind of paper plate fun—more exciting activities are on the way! You won’t want to miss out! 🎉
