May is quickly approaching, bringing with it celebrations like Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and kindergarten graduation/promotion. To mark these occasions while maintaining academic progress and success, here are some of my favorite May Must-Haves for Kindergarten to enjoy and wrap up the school year.
Literacy and Math Activities
First and foremost, as teachers of little learners, we must find fun, engaging yet purposeful practice activities in order to continue having academic success with our students. Start the month off right with this May bundle. It has 14 different activities with Flowers, Plants & Spring Worksheets and Centers. This is a must have for purposeful practice of the academic skills your kindergartners have learned. Great for individual, stations or whole group practice.
Math Activities
Integrating a variety of math activities with a May theme enhances the learning process, making it fun and engaging. Consider including activities like the May Count and Match Butterflies and the Veterans Day 20 Frame Digital activities to align with the May theme, focusing on butterflies and Memorial Day.
Literacy Activities
Here are some engaging literacy activities that not only offer valuable practice but also serve as wonderful keepsakes for your little learners to cherish their kindergarten year memories.
- Memory Book: Your students can craft a memory book to capture and illustrate their favorite moments from kindergarten.
- Letter to Future Self: Have your little learners to write a letter to their future selves.
- Thank You Cards: Let your kindergarteners design thank you cards for their families, teachers, or school staff, expressing gratitude for their support throughout the year.
Mothers Day Activities
Let’s remember the important role of mothers and VIPs in our kindergarteners’ lives. I believe incorporating a range of activities focused on this theme throughout the month can be both enjoyable and captivating.
