As Earth Day approaches, you may be searching for engaging activities and ideas to make this theme enjoyable and purposeful for your little learners. Here are some of my favorite Kindergarten Earth Day Activities that both you and your students will love.

The following Earth Day activities not only celebrate the importance of protecting our planet but also help kindergarteners enhance their academic skills in a fun and interactive way.
Planting Seeds
Provide each student with a small pot, soil, and seeds. Guide them through the process of planting and caring for their own plant. This hands-on activity teaches responsibility and introduces basic science concepts like growth and photosynthesis. Grab your Label A Picture activity that includes the Label Parts of a Flower for added labeling literacy skill practice.
Earth Day Art Projects
Utilize recycled items such as cardboard, paper rolls, and bottle caps to craft engaging art projects. Encourage your kindergarteners to create collages or sculptures, nurturing their creativity while promoting an awareness of reusing materials.
Storytime
Read books focused on Earth Day themes. Discuss the stories and their messages, enhancing literacy skills while promoting environmental awareness. (See my Amazon list for more fun Earth Day books and supplies.
Earth Day Pledge
Have your students create a pledge outlining simple actions they can take to help the environment, like turning off lights when leaving a room or using less water. This reinforces writing skills and personal responsibility.
By incorporating these activities into your Earth Day celebrations, you can create a memorable and meaningful experience for your kindergartners that highlights the importance of caring for our planet while supporting their academic growth. What other activities do you have in mind that could further enrich this theme?
