Does your school have Spirit Day for your kindergarteners? Most schools I have worked with have Spirit Day or Week in which the whole school will participate. But sometimes, it is fun for the kindergarten grade level to have their own “Spirit Day”. Need some ideas for Spirit Days your kindergarteners will love?
Having a monthly spirit day for your kindergarteners can be a fun idea. This can break up the monotony of the average school day. You can use Spirit Day to cement a theme or concept they have been working on for the month.
Beginning of School Year
Spirit ideas for the beginning of the school year could be color themes. Thus reinforcing color identification.
- Dress all in one color.
- Wear two different color socks.
- Where clothes of many colors.
- Letter Themes— have students wear something that begins with the letter you choose. Example- R for red shirt. L for levi’s. S for sneakers. A for Adidas jacket.
Fall
You can use this to reinforce fall themes, colors, or activities.
- Wear a shirt with apples on it.
- Wear red for apples or orange for pumpkins.
- Wear clothes with leaves attached.
- Dress up as pilgrims for Thanksgiving.
Winter
- Dress up in military gear, cammo clothes, patriotic/red/white/blue clothes, etc. for Veterans day.
- Use gingerbread theme. Wear brown but add red to clothes.
- Wear all blue or white for snow.
- Dress up like penguins. Wear black and white.
- Wear all red, pink, and/or white for February.
100 Day of School
This is where a lot of schools celebrate with a “Spirit Day or Week”. Have your kindergarteners dress up like they are 100 years old. They absolutely love this. but don’t forget to decorate your classroom as well. Spring
- Dress like favorite baby animal.
- Dress in green for Earth Day.
- Dr. Seuss Day— is celebrated in March for his birthday. This is a perfect opportunity to have a Spirit Day. Dress up like Dr. Seuss, wear Dr. Seuss Socks or clothes, wear red, or dress up like one of the characters in his books. This is fun and brings this author alive for your students.
All Year Long Ideas
- Crazy hat day.
- Crazy hair day.
- Crazy clothes day.
- Mismatched shoes day.
- Career dress up day.
- Inside out day. Wear clothes inside out. Little one find this especially funny!
