I created these simple High Frequency Sight Word Pattern Block Mats with Decodable Sentences as an addition to literacy stations! This is a great hands-on way for students to practice building and tracing HF/Sight Words and decodable sentences.

I created these simple CVC Word Pattern Block Mats as an addition to literacy stations! This is a great hands-on way for students to practice phoneme mapping, blending, reading and building each CVC word.

I have always had students ‘map’ CVC words. We have always done it on dry erase boards with 3 lines…1 line for each sound. Well, fast forward a few years and SOR and the knowledge of word mapping is in the forefront of education. We have more resources and understanding of how the brain works and resources that align to this teaching. I have created this word mapping frame, along with CVC word cards and worksheets. These activities are perfect for small group instruction and can extend out into independent practice at literacy stations or partner work.

These cards are perfect for morning tubs, literacy stations, small group or even as an early finisher activities. I like to include a highlighter and single hole-punch. Students can highlight each sight word; trace the sight word in the sentence; read the sight word sentence and then punch out each sight word
