Kindergarteners, as well as us teachers, love any opportunity to have a party or celebration for those special people in our lives. Mother’s Day is no exception!! These Mother’s Day Ideas for Kindergarten are simple to prep, meaningful for students and their loved ones, and fun to make!

Mother’s Day Ideas

One thing that I try to consider when prepping and preparing for Mother’s Day celebrations in the classroom is being inclusive. There are a variety of circumstances that mean a child may be celebrating Mother’s Day with someone besides a mother. The activities that I have created are editable so that you can make sure students can include their most loved people!

Hosting a Mother’s Day Tea Party can be accomplished without a lot of added stress on you as the teacher with these easy steps.

The party doesn’t happen without invitations. Each student can create their own invitation with this printable. There is also an RSVP card, which is helpful for you.

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Making sure we have a gift to give to the special people in our lives is another thing I love to do with my class. My students make hand print place mats, hand-drawn portraits of their mom, and a special artwork gift.

Artwork Key Chain or Necklace

One idea is to make these handmade necklace or key chain. We do this by turning the students artwork into either a necklace or key chain. You can use my tutorial here.

Favorite Mother’s Day Books

If you are like me, I try to spend at least a little time explaining to my students why Mother’s Day is so important. One of my favorite ways to do this is through books.

Here are my favorite books about moms:

Are You My Mother? By P.D. Eastman

A Chair For My Mother by Vera B. Williams

Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney

What I Love About You, Mom by Kate Marshall & David Marshall

Love You Forever by Robert Munsch

These Mother’s Day ideas are excellent for teaching kids about Mother’s Day and helping them to celebrate the special people in their life. Whether you are looking for a printable, craft, classroom activity or a book, these are our favorites!
