Happy New Year 2024!!!

It’s hard to believe that half of the school year is already behind us! With 2024 just around the corner, it’s essential to ensure that your little learners continue to make academic progress. Whether you’re already prepared for New Year’s activities or need some new ideas, check out some of my favorites below.

Goal Setting

New Year’s Resolutions: Discuss with your kindergartners what a resolution is and why people make them. Encourage them to think of a resolution for themselves, such as being kind to others or trying new foods. Have them write or draw their resolution on a piece of paper and display it in the classroom. Time Capsule

Time Capsule: Have your little learners make a time capsule to capture memories from the previous semester. Provide them with materials such as a shoebox, construction paper, and markers. Have them create a collage or draw pictures of their favorite memories from the past year. Seal the time capsule and store it in the classroom until the end of the school year.

Counting

Counting Down: Teach your kinders how to count down from 10 to 1, and have them practice counting down as a group. Then, have your class create a countdown chart to count down the days until a special event, such as the end of the school year or a field trip.

Writing

Writing Prompts: Provide your students with writing prompts related to the new year, such as “What I’m looking forward to in 2024” or “My favorite memory from 2023”. Encourage them to draw pictures to accompany their writing.

Bingo

New Year’s Bingo: Create bingo cards with New Year’s themed images, such as fireworks, party hats, and confetti. Have your kindergartners play bingo as a class, with the winner receiving a small prize.(**FREEBIEE**Bingo)
