I have the perfect Kindergarten Mothers Day Keepsake activity for your little learners. This engaging activity will not only boost their academic skills but also get them excited about creating a special gift for their cherished adult this month.
Introducing****Handprint Placemats***
I bet you didn’t know that I have three children, ages 23, 17, and 13. Interestingly, each of them created a laminated Mother’s Day placemat back in Kindergarten! These thoughtful gifts have been treasured over the years and I bring them out every Mother’s Day. I’ve even carried on this tradition in my own Kindergarten class with Mother’s Day or VIP placemats and a Tea Party! While you don’t have to make placemats using paint, try an ink pad instead. This can be a quicker and less messy alternative… I guarantee it!
Supplies
Large card stock (or any kind you have available)
Sentence Strips and Pocket Chart
Directions
Create an engaging message on sentence strips and place them in your pocket chart.
Guide each student to press their hand on the ink pad and transfer it onto the paper.
Once the ink dries (quicker than paint), your students can write and draw a message for their special adult.
Once these are finished, just laminate them, and voilà! You now have a Kindergarten Mothers Day Keepsake for your little learners to take home and cherish for years to come!
