Hi everyone! I was so excited when Abigail contacted me to do a guest post on her blog! She is just the sweetest and she has so many great ideas to share!
My name is Heather and my blog is Recipe for Teaching. I am one of those people that knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher. I am currently a kindergarten teacher and this year is my 13th year teaching. I taught second grade for one year and the rest of my teaching years have been in kindergarten. I love kindergarten because they grow so much throughout the school year. Math is something that I really enjoy teaching. You can find a lot of math freebies over on my blog.
When I’m not teaching, I love to bake. I love baking cupcakes. My husband and I also love traveling to new places. Just like many other teachers out there, I love shopping at Target. My students know it is my favorite store and they even sometimes ask me when I will be going to Target!
Since a lot of schools are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week this week, I wanted to share a FREEBIE with you in this post!
This free download is a “S’mores Coverall” math game! For this game, students will need:
*2 dot cubes
*counters/chips for covering the numbers
To play this game students take turns rolling the two dot cubes, combining the dots to add, and covering that number. I like to have my students say, “___ + ___ = ___” when they combine the dots to add so that they have practice saying the addition equation. You could even have students record the equation on a dry erase board as a way to differentiate the game. The goal of the game is for students to cover all of the numbers on the game board.

Whether you are celebrating this week or next week, I hope that you have a FANTASTIC Teacher Appreciation Week! Remember that you are making a difference in the lives of young children each day!
